Occupational health and Safety

A Few Words from our Safety Officer

Woodworking is inherently a dangerous activity. The correct attitude towards one's personal safety and that of others, as well as the care of tools and machinery, is imperative.

The Guild has skilled members able to accredit members to operate most of the machines in the shed. Specific accreditation training sessions (e.g. for chainsaws) or on-the-job training at SIG meetings and at Shed open days (e.g. for bandsaws)are organised.

Members wishing to obtain accreditation for the use of specific equipment should contact the Safety Officer or consult the list of accredited trainers posted at the Shed.
